Uday Varadarajan is a Senior Analyst for Climate Policy Initiative (CPI), an analysis and advisory organization that works to improve global energy and land use policies. His work has primarily focused on U.S. renewable policies and financing. Prior to joining CPI, Uday was a program examiner in the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB). He was also a AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow, first as an advisor to the Under Secretary for Science at DOE and then on detail to the staff of the House Appropriations Committee, Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development. Uday was a postdoctoral fellow in the Weinberg Theory Group at the University of Texas at Austin, where he worked on issues in superstring theory and high energy theoretical physics. He received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of California at Berkeley, and his undergraduate degree in physics from Princeton University.
